tone down mint hairPosted 3 years, 7 months ago
My hair are currently mint (pastel) underneath its platinum blonde, almost white, the mint is kind of a stain which I don't mind. The thing is that I'll be at funerals all day Sunday and I kinda want to tone it down a bit. I'm currently doing my roots, so they'll be lift to my usual banana peel color. I was thinking... will it look good if I apply Ion Titanium diluted on top of everything? I would think it would smoke out the color a bit no?
This is what it looked last weekend, keep in mind the light is very yellow and warm in my bathroom and not very bright so everything look warmer and darker there: https://www.evernote.com/l/ABnnceMfACdBq5vmJJC7x8Wx2dnUo1H4BXk
Anyone having experience creating a smokey color over a faded pastel ? I really don't want to go darker to cover entirely my light pastel hair with a more "natural" color I just want tone it down a bit :)
Thanks for helping :)

Ion Titanium is super blue-toned as it is, so I think you'll probably want a warm coral to go over the minty green to get it to a nice greyish shade.

Like I said I have just redone my 1.5" long root this afternoon...right now I have very very light cream roots and the rest of my length is very pale green mint after a light bleach wash (it's wet with my olaplex 2 treatment still so I can't take good pictures) but putting coral all over would ruined the whole thing... And I don't want a "dull" brownish grey, I'd rather have a bluish silver...And I'm guessing that because of the mint green underneath it might even turn out like a silvery smokey turquoise is I dilute the titanium in conditionner.
This is basically what I'm aiming for but I want it lighter a little: https://goo.gl/images/q89Cjw I kinda want to try her method, she used a whole tube of pravana silver with 2 dabs of blue mix in it for her shadow roots and then she blended the middle section of length into pravana blue and then her ends in mint. She didn't dilute any of the colors. So I'm thinking even tho I don't have the same brand on hand that if I dilute a bit of my Titanium for the shadow roots then blend middle length into some Lagoon Blue Direction and blend into my mint...Does that make any sense?

Ion titanium Adore platinum Lagoon blue direction Tiny bit of direction alpine green heavily diluted for the ends
I'm very pleased with the results, it's still an unatural color but it's smokey and toned down, it's exactly what I was going for :)

It turned out really pretty. I love your curls too.
