Is adore good hair dye?by AlicoliPosted 3 years, 8 months ago
My hair is platinum blonde right now but I'd like to have light silver shiny look to it and I was wondering if adore platinum is a good dye to use for silver I wouldn't mind if being dark in the beginning but how long does that color last? I've used adore African violate and indigo blue and it lasted roughly about two months mostly because I frequently washed and wetted my hair but I was wondering how long platinum will stay until it is a light silver or are there more better dyes or toners that I can achieve it?

Adore Platinum is decent, but I don't think it lasts two months. I think most silver dyes will only last maybe ten washes, so it depends on how much you spread them out. It's just a very light colour that requires a particular balance of pigments that don't necessarily all wash out at the same rate. I think it's a good choice, though, as it's fairly inexpensive. You can always use purple shampoo to try to spread it out a bit more.
If you want a more flat black (less silvery glimmer), perhaps try diluting Pravana Black or Adore Jet Black.

Adore is good, very pigmented, and stains quickly for there orange and pink which have tried. I have not used Adore Silver or ever seen this color.
For a light silver suggest very diluted Pravana Silver if in the states or very diluted Spark Silver.
Very diluted means a bowl filled with enough conditioner and a little more than to cover the hair. Then add about 1/2 a fingernail size amount of Pravana Silver or Sparks Silver to the white conditioner and mix very well.
Whatever mixture you create or product intend to use strongly suggest first perform a strand test on a very small section of hair with the mixture or product.
These are my suggestions and opinion.

platinum is extremely light blue, I would dilute it in conditioner unless you are ok with it having a strong blue tint, another option is diluted ion titanium but dilute it a bit as well

adores' jet black diluted to a silver tone for me, but for going silver i am still a big fan of Nirvels' grey (from ArtX). Depending if you want a more blue-ish undertone or purple-brownish ;)

Adore is a great brand of hair dye in my opinion. It mixes really well with other dyes and conditioners, lasts a long time, fades evenly and into pretty shades as well as having minimal rub off on clothes. I've only ever used their stronger, more vibrant shades such as purple and red so I can't speak for the staying power of their pastels. But i would imagine that pastels are just very diluted forms of the same ingredients in their other dyes. The more diluted something is, the faster it will fade as there is less pigment present in your hair. I think fast fading would be an issue with any pastel dye.
