Hi guys I'm new to bleaching my own hair. I have bleached my hair 3 times and bleach bath twice. Tone with wella t14, t18, and manic panic ultra violet. I want to try a blue manic panic to tone the orange from my hair but not sure which one to use. Any advice?

I think your hair is too dark to tone. Did you previously have permanent dye before bleaching? You may be able get a small amount out with a colour remover like Colour B4 or Colorfix, but after several rounds of bleaching, this may not do much.
In the future, start with the colour remover first as it's much better at removing artificial dyes without the permanent damage of bleach, but after bleaching, they can become much more stubborn.

No I had virgin hair. It was extremely dark though.

I hope we both get some answers on what to do next lol. I just want the orange to be gone but I don't want to go back to dark just yet.

It seems like either the bleach or developer you used wasn't very effective then. I can generally get my black hair to a yellow blonde fairly easily using a good bleach powder like Matrix Light Master or Schwarzkopf BlondMe. What is your end goal for your hair? Which brand of bleach did you use and what volume developer was it? Did you keep the bleach moist while it was on?

I think it's the developer. I used the ion 20 developer. Salon care quick white bleach. Left it on for 40 min and yes I made sure it was wrapped up to keep it moist. When I first started I was aiming between dark ash blonde and light ash brown. As of right now I just want no more orange if it's not possible for me to get my original goal color.

Thats a really pretty colour :) Not what you want I know but one thing I learnt with home dying is to embrace the happy accidents
How is the condition of your hair? Some dark hair is harder to get light than others. If the condition is OK I might consider another bleach (40 min scares the life out of me, 20 min and my hair is fried so really keep an eye on it!)

Haha thank you, you made my day. My hair is ok only it's dry but that's about it. Yikes what volume of developer did you use?

I think your bleach def was not strong enough. I just bleached mine and its lighter than this and im still no where near toning. If your hair is in good condition I would try re bleaching in a bit then toning if it goes lighter. I know its frustrating. Im in the same process right now.

I think you really need a better bleach at this point, because generally, the problem with the cheaper bleach is that it can't get past this point. I'd suggest getting either Blond Brilliance or L'Oreal Oreor Blanc at Sally's and doing a strand test to make sure you hair can stand another process (honestly, I'm not sure it can). 15 or 20 vol is probably the right concentration for the peroxide. I honestly would not bleach or use a permanent toner (one that requires peroxide) unless you can use one of the suggested brands and the strand test turns out okay. It will just be damaging without any payout. If you can't, you may just need to dye your hair darker to cover it out.
It also looks like you have some dark spots, so I'd tackle those first before doing the rest of your hair. For light ash, you actually need a pretty light base to start, because the red pigments bleach out more slowly than the brown pigments, so you'll end up with orange, as you've noticed. If you can get to an even yellow with minimal orange, you can probably go over it with a semi-permanent ash brown. Adore Medium Brown makes a good ash brown base and you can dilute it to be a bit lighter.

Thank you for your advices! I still have some questions I hope you can help me with. I think I will bleach it one more time but I'll do a strand test first like you suggested. But first should I wait until the manic panic is wash off before bleaching again? When I do the strand test if it does come out light yellow do I leave it out when I bleach the rest of my hair? Do you think volume 20 is ok? And to bleach the dark spot first do I apply bleach on it first and wait until it's lighten and then bleach everything else?
