In December of last year i went to a hair salon and go my hair a dark blondeish balayage (photo 1). I wanted a lighter blonde so went to sally's a few months later and went over what was already blonde to lighten it up (photo 2) For the most part it went over fine except my hair was left frizzy and dry. I cut my hair but still wanted a blonder look. I went to a different hair salon asking for a balayage but was left w a full head of blonde hair with horrible roots (photo 3). I panicked and using some drugstore products i did the dye my hair red then back to brown. It came out a very dark slight auburn but has been slowly fading. i read an article about color safe shampoos not even working so i have been using shampoos and conditioners focusing on helping damaged hair, so my hair has been fading more and more every time i shower. I have strands getting blonde again and my hair overall is going lighter. I want a blonde look again and was wondering if i should use a color remover and dye it, if i could put a dye over the fading color, or what? Under all the dye is that very blonde color but ive read about a lot of color removers taking your hair to an orange. I just want to know what to expect in each different scenario

a couple of rounds of color remover is the way to start, you may need to tone out any brassiness but the blond underneath should come back

I was left with the same problem but I ended up having the salon just extend the highlights all the way up so there were no "dark" roots showing. So instead of going drastically from light to dark, it looked more natural. Try doing the Vitamin C method. It worked for me.
