Pravana Emerald and Vivids Black Additive!by tortorPosted 4 years, 4 months ago
So I finally did it..overtop of my faded Ion Jade that was now turquoise, blue, and green. Another user suggested I tone with orange first to cancel out the blue so I bought some Pravana orange as well but decided to just add it to my concoction: a full tube of emerald, 4 dabs of the black additive, and 4 dabs of orange (very small dabs), and a little conditioner. Left it on for only about 30 minutes and this is what I got
I'm pretty happy with it!!

This was right after I did it. The other post I made where I'm outside and have sunglasses on that you commented on was after I washed it once or twice the only difference is just a hint of blue was coming thru from the faded Jade. I loved it but I can't give it the best review only because I had so much blue coming thru when it faded (due to the faded jade that was still in my hair) so I'm curious as t how it would fade on a different base. But when I very first did it I mixed the orange and the black additive so it covered the blue and really deepened it. It didn't bleed either like Pravana usually does. I usually shampoo in my utility sink until it rinses clear but I didn't have to with this one.
I'm mad I didn't get better pictures this day. While I was in selfie mode I got a phone call that caused the rest of my week to be crazy so this is all I had to work with.
Anyways it started turning pretty blue so I put a slate gray I got at Cosmo prof over it and chopped it off lol it looks OK for now. Do you have Instagram? Follow me if you do @shorties.spice :) @angmurtha

I would like to add my recent experience with Pravana Emerald. Pravana Emerald even with a lot of conditioner and a very small amount of dye turned my white hair a medium green. Over time the dye will fade blue and last for quite a long while. At a very pale blue was able to turn the very light blue to a very light purple with red based shampoo. From this experience would suggest adding yellow to see if would help keep the green remaining green as the color fades.
