So my hair was originally thick long and jet black but on the 24th of December my sister helped me bleach my hair cause I wanted a light purple. We bleached it with five 1 oz L'Oreal Quick Blue Powder Bleach packs mixed with 1 oz of Salon Care Professional 40 Volume Creme Developer. My sister said let it sit for 45 mins then another 25 after that we rinsed it out with warm water then put in half a 1 oz pack of ion effective care treatment rinsed that out then put used the Blonde Brilliance Perfect Blonde Anti-Yellow Creme Toner Kit used only 40 ml of the 90 ml it gave and let it sit for 25 mins rinsed it out with cold water then put the remaining ion effective care treatment in rinsed it out with cold water towel dried my hair and applied Aveda Damage Daily Hair Repair. On the 26th my sister thought it would be good to cut 2-3 inches off and thin my hair I fought at first but gave in. On the 27th we bleached it again cause my hair wasn't light enough but my hair was thinner so I was worried that my hair might get more damaged easily and fall out my sister said that there is always a chance of that when bleaching your hair but it should be fine. So we bleached it again using five 1 oz L'Oreal Quick Blue Powder Bleach packs mixed with 1 oz of Salon Care Professional 40 Volume Creme Developer let it sit for 45 mins then another 25 rinsed it out with warm water followed by 1 whole packet of ion effective care treatment rinsed out with cold water. As I was doing all this my hair was falling out in decent sized pieces I just lost it showed my sister she said she was sorry and I think she blow dried it I can't remember I was just so sad. The next morning the 28th I woke up to find that each side of my hair were different lengths. So my sister had cut my hair to make everything even and look good. On the same day I went to Sally Beauty Supply and returned the stuff I bought to do the purple and bought Miracle 7 Heavenly Healer Intense Leave-In Conditioner and some boxes of Ion Color Brilliance Midnight Blue Black. Everyday I put in the leave-in conditioner and apply Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair. As of right now it's been 12 days since the start of this an 9 days since my second bleaching and hair falling out. So my question is would it be okay to dye my hair right now or tomorrow and what developer shoulder I use? If not right now or tomorrow when could I and again with what developer? The developers I have are all creme developer by Salon Care Professional. They are: one 10 volume it says gentle lift I have about half a 16 oz bottle left, two 20 volumes one says regular lift it's a 16 oz bottle with about half left the other just says 20 volume it's also 16 oz but practically never opened, and one 32 oz 40 volume that's pretty much empty. Thanks so much for all and any advice tips it is much appreciated.
None! No more peroxide or developer. Go to your beauty supply shop and tell them you need a direct dye. Do not put any more peroxide on your head. All of your hair needs to grow out before you put a lighter on again, or you will get a fancy chemical hair cut. 40v at the wrong ratio, an hour per process, 2 days apart, I'm surprised you don't have chemical burns coating your scalp and there's hair to work with. If your hair was black to begin with you could have probably gone blue black with no bleach. If your hair is light enough you can do a lighter purple. Post pics of current shade or level and desired color? Has it even lightened much? The ratio seems so dry that I worry your hair never really lightened overall and all you achieved was extreme damage and patchy chunks :( Don't let her do your hair anymore.
@thatvintagechick I thought I could trust her to do it right :'( she goes to cosmetology school and used bleached before. I knew she liked to do things her way I should have told her to do it the way it has to be done or don't do it. Trust me she's not allowed near my hair ever again. I changed my mind to the blue black after we had already bleached my hair because when I went to the my beauty supply store they said in order to get the light purple I originally wanted I would've had to bleach again and I'm never bleaching again. My hair at least feels fine at some parts. I don't want to lighten it. I want to dye it dark again eventually so I'm going to get an inverted bob (I have no other choice) to get rid of all the damaged ends. When it was processing it was burning but she said to keep it on I should have been stronger and put my foot down :'(. I would say it was a level 1 to begin with but that's not my natural I've dyed my hair jet black for as long as I could remember and now is a level maybe 7 or 8 I can't even tell. My hair is thin everywhere there are pieces that are like so tiny that it's like they are growing back from me shaving my hair. I will post pics on my timeline
Definitely should've used a color remover to get the black dye out instead of bleach. 40 volume should never be used on already processed hair either. But it's a little late now...
Keep trimming your hair every few weeks. Don't leave those split ends of you'll lose even more hair. Try a protein treatment like Joico K-pak or ApHogee 2 Step. Protein treatments are like bandaids. They won't fully fix the problem and won't be a miracle for severe damage. But used once every 1 to 2 weeks they can make your hair tolerable. Give some serious moisture with coconut oil and pure argan oil soaks overnight and wash out with conditioner in the morning. Sleep with a silk pillow case or head scarf. Wash your hair no more often than 1 to 2 times per week and don't use shampoo as it is too drying for severely damaged hair. Look up co-washing and give that a go. Don't towel dry or brush your hair or anything else that will cause mechanical damage. Gently work out knots with your fingers and a comb. Don't use any heat styling or drying styling products. Do not even look at peroxide! Use direct dyes like the ones sold on this site only. You can use these kinds of dyes right away, they won't damage your hair. They may fade quickly though because your hair's cuticle is badly compromised but you can re-dye when you need to.
You can't go from very dark to very light in a weekend without a lot of damage. To get your hair light enough for light purple safely would have taken at least three months, if not six. The thing your sister messed up was the volume of peroxide. 40 volume is extremely damaging and should never really be used on the scalp. If you had waited before bleaching again and used a lower volume for the second bleaching you may have been OK, but the second round of 40 vol was just too much. No more processing at all until the damaged parts have been cut out and you may be able to save the rest of your hair. There are lots of colours you can achieve on a level 7/8 base, you can still have purple, just not a pastel shade. Direct dyes are conditioning, so no further damage and will help your hair to feel more healthy. If your sister is feeling guilty and has access to it, she could get you some Olaplex to do a stand alone treatment. Other than that a protein treatment such as Joico K Pak Deep Penetrating reconstructor will help, followed by a deep conditioner.
I did then what I knew then, & when I knew better, I did better.

I've uploaded photos to my timeline of my natural hair color, the color my hair is always dyed before I ever though about bleaching, the color after the first bleaching and then the color after the second bleaching
@spooki I plan on getting an inverted bob and keeping that until all my hair is healthy again
You can definetly do purple over that if you still want to. A pink based one rather than blue based will fade prettier over the orange bits. A bob should look nice, hopefully the worst bits are cut off. Keep an eye out for split ends, they are the devil for hair growth.
oh i agree with spooki as i wanted to suggest you a purple color over that you have but i wasn't sure if is allow to say more on the timeline pics! i believe a dye like purple hase will cover perfectly your current color :) ;)
look on this :) https://youtu.be/hSHnL24A4fg ;)
