I need help to get dark teal hair!!!by sunshine1234Posted 4 years, 7 months ago
hey! as you can see by the title i want to get dark teal hair but i'm not sure which colors to use. I currently have my natural medium brown hair but i want to lighten it before i dye but am also not sure what shade to go to and if i should tone it (with a drop of purple dye in tons of conditioner). the teal i want is more to the green side but not pure green (i think the first photo is the most like i want it but maybe even a bit darker). The brands of dye that i usually use are manic panic and arctic fox because they are the only ones available to me but i prefer arctic fox because it stays longer and barely bleeds. i currently own manic panic atomic turquoise and arctic fox aquamarine and would be happy if i could use one of the turquoise dyes to mix with something new to get the color i want (i am aware that both by themselves are too light to get the color i want). Thanks to anyone who can help!

If you need to lighten your hair it'll probably turn orangey or yellow(as is normal with bleach). Make sure to counteract the yellow/orange as much as possible. Use silver shampoos or dilute a violet to get rid of them :3 You don't want the yellows and oranges as they can make the colour 'yucky' (maybe a picture of your current hair would help determine?)
As for colour; I got a similar colour using directions alpine green, mixed with adore's emerald (which is way more blue then one would expect). If u want I have pictures in my timeline ^-^.
So you could definately use one of your turqoise tints with something greener! If your base becomes very light i recommend using a little adore blue black to deepen your colour. (else it can come out very bright instead of this deep shade you want).
Over my bleached hair i first used the adore blue black diluted- then i used the mixture of the colour i wanted and let it soak in for a whole day. It came out perfect, but faded very blue for me (a personal problem luckily not everyone can relate to- my hair just holds on to them...)
hope i was of some help! Good luck :D

Suggest Forest Green, Green Envy, or Alpine Green. Pravana Green not diluted also gave me a similar color. Yellow in the hair will pull a blue green color more to the green side, because blue and yellow make green.

I wouldn't bleach to a light blonde if you want a darker, more green shade. Some warmth in your base will help to keep the colour deep and muted and stop it fading blue like it did on Queeny's white base. I would bleach to an orange /gold shade, and strand test the colours you have, you may need a darker blue as well. Dark blues on dark orange bases come out green/teal
I did then what I knew then, & when I knew better, I did better.

I think you could use the aquamarine with some of the arctic fox green and maybe posieden to darken it up, I saw a similar color on there Facebook page and that's what was used

I agree, you don't need a base thats super light. It is better if it's golden for this shade in particular. AND, way better for your hair. I used Directions Alpine Green and achieved this color, however, it started fading a brighter green. So maybe go for a more blue toned green. There's this blogger online that bleaches her hair to golden blonde and then just uses a blue over it, and it looks like a nice muted green.

Wow! I didn't expect such a quick response! Thanks everyone who answered! I will definitely use all of the advice i got and I'll post a photo of my hair after i dye it and write what i used to help anyone else who wants this color. The only problem is that it will probably take some time because i need to buy some dye to mix with the turquoise. Hope this helps anyone else who had the same questions!
