Adding a different pastel colour to fading pastel hair
Posted 4 years, 3 months agoHi lovely people!
On Sunday, I plan to change my hair colour into a dusty periwinkle / blue.
My current hair is a washed out peach, leftover from the previous dye. I washed my hair with dandruff shampoo last night and this morning the front part and top of my head is back to light blonde / white-ish blonde but the back and bottom part still looks quite peach-y.
What should I do to make sure I can get a nice pastel shade? I don't want to further stress my hair though cos I'm also touching up my roots that day.
The products that I have: Pravana Silver, Pravana Blissful Blue, Pravana Mint Green, Pravana Violet, and Directions black.
Thanks in advance for your input!

You can just tone the peach with a mix of Blissful Blue and maybe a tiny drop of diluted Violet. You can do it in the same step as the dyeing part, since those are basically the right colours to use for periwinkle. Do a strand test first to figure how much darker (it should only be a tiny bit) you need to make the mix.

Thanks! Do I need to dilute the blissful blue with conditioner before mixing it with the violet or just put it on directly?

To be honest if apply a light blue to this base likely will get a light purple like lavender shade in my opinion. Peach to myself also means a little bit of orange which is opposite blue on the color wheel.
Suggest follow other colleagues advice on how to counter this pink-orange mix. Suggest fading the pink-orange mix as well.

The run-off from bleaching your roots will take some of the peach out. You could also leave dandruff shampoo on your lengths whilst your roots are processing The way to change colours safely is to be patient. Regular washing will get the colour out over time, you can use fading methods but they are all quite aggressive and not good for the hair.(With the exception of hot oil soaks) The other way is to work your way around the colour wheel so you always work with the base you have rather than trying to get back to blonde between colours.
I did then what I knew then, & when I knew better, I did better.

Adding a pure blue will get periwinkle with that peach base. (Diluted alot that is.) I've had periwinkle before, last December, but I went backwards. From faded tealy blue stain and added a mauve pink on top.
But your roots will be blue, so maybe do a violet blue diluted o to your roots at the same time?

Hi all,
Thanks for the input. I have decided to soak the bottom half of my hair with anti-dandruff shampoo last night and....now my hair is 85% back to light blonde :D
Problem solved!
