I love you all. Just leaving Sally's with hask placenta leave in and henna mask and a clear temp glaze. Next time I'm going to try the shampoos you said, I didn't see those til I left. I will use some of my other stuff besides Pantene now after the unanimous vote. Thinking now that's why my hair is tangled and sticky feeling. Going to use clarifying shampoo plus the mask next wash. You have been a tremendous help and I will share what I learn works too

When I do decide to risk it all and do my roots (inevitable) should I use coconut oil plus protein filler first? And vibegar rinse after?

As long as the bleach doesn't overlap and your roots are as greasy as a plate of bacon it should be good but others have suggested coconut oil a couple hours before and even a protein filler after.
About the leave-in conditioners I use Sexyhairs smooth encounter coconut oil though its 18$ and has cones but so far with two people using it since september theres probably more than half left, and you only need a teeeny drop.
Also Not Your Mother's way-to-grow leave-in, no cones or bad stuff either.
My mother adores the Soya Want It All 22-in-1 with soy, cocoa and argan oils.

I discovered a good trick for hiding the grizzly ends (in a conditioning protecting way too) that works really well on my hair (though if your hair is very fine it might be a bit much). When your hair is dry, put conditioner on the bits where it's gnarley and let it dry, that smoothes out the strange zig-zagness that they get but leaves it a little strange textured. After that use a bit of oil (I use coconut but I'm sure others would work) to get rid of the weird texture. Let that dry and then finger comb and brush to break up any clumpiness. I found that made the ends look really normal and not snarl in the brush.
Also washing less and alternating normal washes with conditioner-only washes really helped me when my hair got super-damaged.

Okay, girl, let me share some knowledge. My hair was absolutely fried less than a month ago. It was ridiculous. I'd bleached 3 times, used permanent hair dye, and then bleached again, with 30 level bleach and it was ridiculous.
I cut off some of the dead weight (which made me cry, but I really cut off more then I needed.) and I went to Sally's and bought Aphogee's 2 minute Keratin treatment. And let me tell you, this product is the best thing I have ever used in my life. You shampoo and towel dry your hair, and run the treatment through your hair and let it sit for 2-5 minutes, depending on the level of damage. I settled in the middle for three. I rinsed it out and went about my day as normal (although some people use conditioner after) when I got up the next morning, there was a DRAMATIC lack of breakage, and my hair felt wonderful. I've used it three times since then, and my hair looks and feels like it did back when I'd only had one or two bleach treatments. It was magnificent. I highly suggest it. It's pretty cheap too, after using my sally's card, I spent $7 on a 16oz bottle, and there are plenty more usages left in it.
Also, I don't know about pantene, but using Tresseme Keratin Smooth conditioner and shampoo really helped me hide the damage before I broke down and cut my hair.
Good luck!

Thank you so much, I swear I'm going to try everything bc if I can just get what is left to feel normal... I won't have to shave my head ha seriously though thank you all so much! Something got to work! I just tried the placenta (I googled that it's from sheep placenta- ewe) mask and leave in it might be a little stronger/fuller but still snarly and dry, put a lil olive oil on top after, I think I'll give this a few tries bc there were just so many good things said about it, already through half a big bottle of leave in after a day bc my hairs That thirsty so I'll def look at those leave ins and the keratin treatments. Something has got to help. I think I'll do a clear glaze here soon that might help seal the porosity?

In following the advice on the forums, I did a no shampoo today after lots of placenta treatment yesterday (left hair feeling stronger yet a lil crispy) and just did an argan oil mask. Hair already feels a little stronger and easier to comb! I will continue to alternate for a awhile to see what happens :) thank you so much for all the help, good people here :)

Glad it is feeling better, but remember that every time you comb or wash it you are contributing to the damage so don't go overboard with treatments. Often doing as little as possible is the best solution.
I did then what I knew then, & when I knew better, I did better.

I'm not sure if anybody has suggested this yet but ditching hairbrushes all together is a great way to lessen breakage. If your hair cannot withstand the pressure put on it by a brush, there is really no point in using one. I would suggest using a wide toothed comb once a day or nothing at all. I usually just finger comb my hair, use a wide toothed comb if it's wet and I need to dry it (if I need to go out), and use a brush sometimes when I'm pulling my hair back in a ponytail.
Edit: Also, I made my own dry shampoo with equal parts corn starch and cocoa powder. If you are blonde, you can just use corn starch. It is a bit messy, but it is the cheapest and most effective method I have found thus far. Dry shampoos are usually expensive and they have all kinds of unnecessary ingredients in them.

I used coconut oil for the first time when bleaching last time I bleached and it worked wonders. I left it on for about an hour prior to bleaching. I think I probably needed to let it process longer but I was afraid LOL but it lifted enough for my purposes. I have never experienced so little breakage when washing out bleach in my life. Normally I have to clear the drain, this time there was hardly anything at all! So I'm a big fan of coconut oil when bleaching. :)

Awesome I'm so excited to try that! Going to force myself to wait as long as I can stand it and I might even go darker or red for a bit with glaze only while it grows out

I just got secret extensions in the mail, it's a clear headband with hair on the underside, happy the dark blonde matches my hair exactly, it's not a ton of hair so it's subtle which is good. Perfect length too. Cons are the clear thin headband doesn't seem like it will last very long, and I still don't know how much I'll wear it but for special occasions or pictures it will help me grow this epic fail out. Also they can be heat styled and washed, can wear up to 3 at a time but not colored. Just in case anyone is ever in my predicament, it's an option.

Have you tried body art quality henna? By keeping it on for a short time it won't turn your hair red, maybe make it a bit strawberry blonde, but it's ability to coat damaged hair is amazing. I have used it to bring hair back from the grave. You could try it on a little bit of your hair to see how it works. Also Elumen Clear glaze does wonders too. And it won't change the color. It acts to fill in places on the shaft that are damaged. You can get it on amazon.

Mandy Mae- thank you so much. I will try both. Could I please have full details on the henna? I looked it up amazon, instructions were to mix with water and use a hair mask, is that what you did? Thanks again!

Mandy Mae, I am all set to purchase elumen clear however I'm wondering if I could do my roots (from brown to blonde) with this? It looks promising either way, however reading product descriptions and everything it seems hard to find a specific color to try, wondering if you have some advice in this area as well? Sorry to be so needy but both of these products appear to be silicone free with promising reviews and I'm really excited to try them (I will leave a review) I have not cut my long fried hair yet, thinking there must be something out there to add strength condition and volume. I am determined.

After researching I found elumen is full of silicones so that may be why people were so happy about it at first? It's hard to find info on colors bc it's European I believe? I see it's deposit only temporary appears to be great for reds though. The blonde if I understand correctly just an ash toner to use after bleaching. Please correct me if I'm wrong the information was hard to find. Still interested in the henna, I will look for a clear henna too.

I've been reading a lot of stuff trying to figure out what happened to my hair, I have been taking Epsom salt baths daily and washing my hair in the tub thinking the salt softened the water, magnesium is present in Epsom salts and hard water, I wonder if the magnesium is to blame. Something definately reacted.
