Pixie Cut Gone Wrong

    Pixie Cut Gone Wrong

Hi All! Need some help! Absolutely panicking.

So, I just got my hair cut yesterday. First time pixie cut for me, so I was pretty nervous. I am absolutely panicking now.

See photos below, I think they say it all. It is much much shorter than I was expecting and not feminine at all, especially around the ears. I was very specific about the length around the ears and "sideburn" area, noting that I didn't want it to look boy-ish and showed her the picture again when saying this. She also thinned out the top so much that it will no longer lay flat on my head and just puffs up no matter how much product I put in it. NOT TO MENTION the chunk she cut out of my bangs. I wish I could add more photos, but I am limited to three.

So, my questions are - 1) any suggestions for help with styling? And 2) I don't want any more hair cut off, I don't think there is any way to salvage the haircut except for letting it grow - should I contact the salon to let them know I'm unhappy? I didn't see the chopped bang piece until I was home and when I left I didn't realize how short it was so I told her I liked it and gave her a $10 tip for a $38 haircut. This is only my third time going there. I'll have to call to cancel the trim appointment that I made, should I mention my unhappiness at that time? Would it do any good?

I don't have much in the way of styling tips, except that I'd just let the bit on top grow out a bit and it'll lay flat again. It's much easier than trying to manage with a lot of product. On my hair, it only takes about 2-3 weeks to get to that level. At that point, it'll probably also be long enough to put some clips in. As for now, you can try some retro head scarf ties if you'd like something more feminine. I think in a month or two, you'll probably get to your original goal, though you'll probably need a trim on your bangs.

Now overall, I think you can complain about it if you'd like, but I'm not sure how much it will do for you, since it's not very easily fixed with another cut.

Firstly can I say don't panic as it doesn't look bad at all, it looks quite cute - it's just a shock because it is not what you asked for. I would totally talk to the salon - explain how you feel and they should be able to advise on how to get it to where you want it to be and give advice on how to style it in the mean time. Could you work with it being so short and use a gel to do a spikey style till it grows out a bit. Or you could tie a scarf round it - I just googled pixie cut scarf styles and there are loads of YouTube videos showing how to do different scarf styles and most of them look fantastic.

like others have said, wait a few weeks and it will get longer, use some gel or pomade to make it look a bit more "piecey" throughout the hair and maybe style the bang area down and to the side. I'm totally into the short hair on girls these days, I think it looks cute and you can rock it!

You can wait for it to grow a little longer and I'm sure you'll achieve that nice pixie cut.
